Youth

The youth program at Christ Church engages the spiritual formation of youth grades 6 to 12. The program uses Bible study, prayer, rites of passage, outreach ministries, and both serious and playful activities to underscore its core principles: 1) manhood and womanhood are free gifts from God, and 2) adulthood must be earned. The program ranges from Sunday morning classes and afternoon gatherings to special events in the community. We have a great team of dedicated youth leaders who help guide, mentor, and love our kids. As a team, we strive to honor our youth’s spirits and safety in all that we do.

Rite 13 and The Journey

Rite 13 and The Journey

Rite 13: grades 6 & 7 or 7 & 8

Rite 13 is the first two years (grades 6 & 7 or 7 & 8 ) of the program which focus on celebrating the individuality of each young person and their creative potential. The Rite 13 liturgy, “A Celebration of Manhood and Womanhood,” is the community expression of this.

The Journey: Senior High

The Journey engages youth with the skills and critical thinking involved in adulthood. We use aspects of the Journey to Adulthood curriculum in addition to other resources.

Episcopal Youth Community (EYC)

Episcopal Youth Community (EYC)

Every Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., we have various activities open to youth grades 6 to 12. We typically meet in the Youth Room on the 3rd floor of the parish house. Activities range from bowling and scavenger hunts to movie nights, indoor rock climbing, and trips to the Rivermarket.

The EYC also takes part in many central convocation youth outings during the year, coordinated with other Episcopal Churches in the area. Activities include ice skating, camping trips, holiday outreach activities, and hiking trips, as well as diocesan events at Camp Mitchell.

Safeguarding God's Children

All of our paid staff undergo background checks, and all of our staff and volunteers who work with children take the Safeguarding God’s Children training. In addition, we have policies on the appropriate use of social media and others ways that we keep our children safe at Christ Church. For more information about our policies, contact Patricia Matthews.
