Sunday Bible Study

9:15 a.m. in the Bishop’s Room
For Episcopalians, the Bible, the Book of Common Prayer, church tradition, and reason have all formed our conversation about God and shaped our theology. This class, led by J.B. Cross, examines how Episcopalians talk about life and God and how God speaks to us through the lens of each Sunday’s lectionary texts. Dr. Floyd Martin, Professor of Art History at UALR, examines each week’s lectionary through works of painting, sculpture, and architecture, both traditional and modern, as a part of each Sunday’s study. For additional information, contact J.B. Cross or Floyd Martin.

THE PARLOR CLASS

Classes for Fall 2010 will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 5 and run for six weeks on Tuesday nights. Refreshments will be provided and childcare is also available. Contact: Scott Walters

Education for Ministry

This intensive weekly program is a chance to make significant growth theologically as you reflect on the Bible, church history, and the church’s various theological statements through the centuries. The University of the South has developed materials for the course. A mentor leads discussion of the materials and reflection on how each participant sees God active in his or her daily life. Tuition is $350 per year (there are partial scholarships available), and the class is limited to 12 people. This group meets from September 8, 2010 through May 2011. If you want to find out more about the course, visit with Sandra Scoggin or visit EfM at Sewanee.
