Dear People of Christ Church,

I am very pleased to announce that The Rev. Hannah Hooker will join the Christ Church staff as an associate priest this summer. She has served nearly two years as the curate at St. Mark’s in Jonesboro, most of that time without a rector. She has lead that church beautifully in a time of transition, bringing an exceptional amount of wisdom and gifts for leadership so early in her ordained ministry. We surely will be blessed by her ministry among us. In addition to the usual priestly tasks of preaching, teaching, liturgy, and pastoral care, she will be the primary clergy support for children and family ministry, working closely with Marvin McLennon. She will be a wonderful addition to the staff. Here are a few introductory details about Hannah.

Hannah grew up in North Little Rock, attended Hendrix College, and graduated from Virginia Theological Seminary with Ragan Sutterfield. Her background is in food service, and she is passionate about cooking and baking. She also loves traveling, camping, and working at the farm with friends and family and her dog, Abel.

A word about funding: we recently received a generous bequest from a parishioner who had named Christ Church in his will, which makes this important expansion of the staff possible at this time. I am grateful for his forethought to include our parish in his financial planning, adding his generosity to the good work of The 1839 Society. His gift, including a portion designated for the endowment, will have a positive impact for many years to come.

Hannah will start at Christ Church on July 1, upon the completion of her curacy. Please keep her in your prayers as she prepares to join us this summer.

Happy Easter!

The Rev. Dr. Kate Alexander
