worship involves all of us
There are a variety of ways to participate in the worship life of Christ Church, from adding your presence and prayers to worship services, to serving in a particular capacity as a volunteer. Several such opportunities are listed below. For more information about any of them, please contact Carol Lou Flowers.
Acolytes serve as worship leaders by carrying processional crosses and torches and assisting at the altar. This ministry is open to fourth graders and up.
Altar Guild members care for all of the vessels, linens, silks, candles, etc. used in worship, manage supplies, and prepare the sanctuary before services and clean up afterward. This essential behind-the-scenes ministry helps our common worship to run smoothly and beautifully.
Children’s Chapel is offered each Sunday during a portion of the 10:30 service for children who wish to participate. Chapel leaders guide the children through the lesson of the day, prayer, artwork, and singing.
Christ Church Choir, Compline Choir, and Handbell Choirs
See “Musical Offering” for information about our extraordinary music program.
Eucharistic Ministers are part of the altar party and assist the clergy with the distribution of communion; Eucharistic Visitors bring communion directly following the worship service to those who are unable to participate in worship due to illness or infirmity.
Flower Guild members provide the floral arrangements for the altar every week in addition to other greenery and decorations needed on particular liturgical days or seasons throughout the year.
Greeters and Ushers
Greeters and Ushers welcome everyone to worship at Christ Church and assist with various aspects of hospitality for worshippers before, during, and after services. Duties include greeting, distributing bulletins, guiding people to Communion, and other details.
Healing Prayers are offered to individuals in the transepts during Communion at the 10:30 service.
Lectors serve as worship leaders by reading Scripture lessons appointed for that day and leading the Prayers of the People at all three Eucharist services on Sunday.
Wedding Guild members assist with many different aspects of weddings and rehearsals at Christ Church, helping with logistics, hospitality, and the many details of a wedding service.
