Faith in Formation

Sunday Morning and Beyond.

We believe that formation in the Christian faith is meant to be a lifelong process. Every age and interest group has a unique perspective on the mystery of God. So our Christian education offerings honor the unique witness that people of all ages bring. Learn more about offerings for specific age groups: children, youth, and adults. Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to pray during the week or a group with which to share your journey, we hope that you will find what you are looking for in this community.

Youth on Sunday Morning

Rite 13 and The Journey – 9:15 a.m.

We offer a complete youth ministry program of spiritual formation for youths of grades 6 – 12. Youth will engage in Bible study, prayer, rites of passage, outreach ministries and both serious and playful activities. The program is comprised of three two-year segments based on the grade levels of the youth. We use the Rite 13 curriculum as well as other aspects of the Journey to Adulthood program and supplemental materials. On Sunday mornings, the program begins in the youth room on the third floor of the parish house.

Adults on Sunday Morning

Parlor Class – 9:15 a.m.

Join in regular book studies, topical discussions, and presentations. This class is led by The Rev. Scott Walters and meets in the Parlor.

Christian Foundations – 9:15 a.m.

Our basic course on Anglican Christianity consists of a series of six classes offered in the fall and in the spring, led by The Rev. Kate Alexander in Parke Hall. We cover topics ranging from Scripture and church history to the sacramental life of the Episcopal Church. This course serves as preparation for Confirmation in the spring, but is open to all who want to join in the discussions.

Sunday Bible Study – 9:15 a.m.

This class, led by J.B. Cross, examines how Episcopalians talk about life and God and how God speaks to us through the lens of each Sunday’s lectionary texts. Our resident art historian Floyd Martin offers an exploration of images related to the texts. This class meets in the Bishop’s Room.
