The beautiful rivets our attention on the other, in a way that connects us.
— Sallie McFague

There are many ways to worship God. At at Christ Church, beauty is central to the way we gather for prayer. Whether it is our music on Sunday morning, the preaching in our pulpit, or the art gallery in our hallways, we seek to celebrate the beauty of God and creation in all its forms. We do this not simply to enjoy an aesthetic experience, but because we believe God forms our hearts and minds into the way of Jesus through the experience of beauty.

The Work of the People

The word liturgy comes from the Greek term for “a work on behalf of the people,” and it reminds us that worship is something a whole congregation takes up for the sake of the world. We stand, we kneel, we sit; we sing, we speak, we listen. The liturgy involves us all. And the liturgy involves all of our selves.

We invite the full participation of all people in our worship, regardless of their age, family situation, or social status. On a typical Sunday you will find longtime members and relative newcomers, singles, divorced people, parents with small children, and all the varied configurations of family imaginable.

Prayground and Children’s chapel

We seek to provide a welcoming space for children to join in our worship. During the scripture readings and sermon, children are invited to go to an age appropriate children’s chapel. We also have a prayground space where children are able to move around and participate in the service with books and toys that teach participation in the life of the church.

Weddings

We welcome all couples to explore having a wedding at Christ Church in the Episcopal tradition. Detailed information may be found in the wedding customary below.
