the Rev. Dr. Kate Alexander, Rector

Kate began her ministry at Christ Church as curate in 2007, and has served as rector since 2018. Her primary role is caring for Christ Church in all of it’s faithful, interesting complexity, as well as leading the congregation into a vibrant future in downtown Little Rock. A west coast native who now happily calls Arkansas home, Kate attended Mills College in Oakland, California, Harvard Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California, where she completed a Ph.D. in systematic theology. She is married to the Rev. Dr. Jason Alexander, who serves as canon to the ordinary. Together they keep joyfully busy with two ministries, three teenagers, three cats, and one golden retriever. 

 

The Rev. Hannah Hooker, Associate Rector

Hannah has served as an associate rector at Christ Church since 2018. In addition to the preaching and pastoral care she shares with her clergy colleagues, Hannah helps facilitate our sacramental life, planning worship and coordinating baptisms, weddings, and confirmation. She has also undertaken extensive research into the history of Christ Church and helps maintain its archives. Born and raised in central Arkansas, Hannah attended Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, and Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia. She was ordained in 2016 and came to us from St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Jonesboro, Arkansas. In her free time, Hannah enjoys traveling to visit friends and family, home renovation projects, and walking with her dog, Abel.

The Rev. Ragan Sutterfield, Associate Rector

Ragan has served as an associate rector at Christ Church since 2017. In addition to the preaching, pastoral care, and liturgical leadership, Ragan facilitates adult Christian formation and community connections. A Little Rock native, Ragan is a graduate of Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia. Ragan previously served as curate at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Little Rock. An avid birder, Ragan seeks to live the good life with his wife Emily and their two daughters

 

Marvin McLennon, Director of Children & Youth Ministries

Marvin grew up in Little Rock and attended Hendrix College in Conway. After college, he traveled to Louisiana for Episcopal Service Corps, where he served in youth leadership rolls for the Diocese of Louisiana and St. James Episcopal Church in Baton Rouge. Marvin joined the Christ Church staff in 2016, and leads Sunday morning Christian formation, Episcopal Kids Community (EKC), and Episcopal Youth Community (EYC).

SteveN Bullock, Organist & Choirmaster

Steve grew up in St. James, MO. Upon graduation, he went to Ouachita Baptist University where he earned his Organ Performance degree. After college he moved to El Campo, TX where he was the Organist and Music Director at First United Methodist Church. In the Fall of 1987 he moved to Little Rock to become the Organist and Choirmaster at Christ Church. Steve currently lives in his circa 1880 house with his partner Joe and their three cats.  Steve enjoys working in the yard, tending to his flower beds, trees and shrubs.

Dr. jane Gamble, Assistant organist & Choirmaster

As Assistant Organist and Choirmaster at Christ Church, Jane has supported the music program since 2020, assisting Steve Bullock in services, rehearsals, weddings, funerals, and concerts. Her organ concert career has taken her across the U.S. and Europe, performing at renowned venues such as St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, Notre Dame in Paris, and Washington National Cathedral. Jane has served at various Memphis churches and taught at Rhodes College. Holding a Doctor of Musical Arts and other advanced degrees, she now enjoys life in Little Rock with Catherine Nathan and their cat, Toasty, while being part of the Christ Church community.

Dustyn Spencer, Parish Administrator

Howison Hollenberg, Green Groceries Administrator

Howison has served as the Green Groceries Director, our farm to church food ministry which provides nutritious local food to forty food-insecure households in our local community, since January 2020. A native of Little Rock and Christ Church, Howison lived and worked in Atlanta for 35 years in a variety of roles, including that of garden designer and yoga teacher.  She graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1985 with a degree in English and French. She lives with her spouse and two cats where she enjoys a rhythm of reading, writing, gardening, cooking, practicing yoga and making up silly songs.  She loves the Christ Church spirit of honoring our history while embracing and adapting to the future.

Stephanie Smittle, Director of Communications

Stephanie has been a chorister at Christ Church since 2012. She grew up in Cave Springs, Arkansas and attended Hendrix College in Conway. Stephanie has been entertainment editor at the Arkansas Times since 2016.
