The Transfiguration is a major feast day is our tradition, and celebrates the mountaintop experience Jesus shared with Peter, James, and John, when "he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his garments became white as light" (Matthew 17:2). This magnificent occasion revealed the divinity of Christ before the Resurrection, and provided the disciples with strength and hope during the hard times that lay ahead of them. It is a time for us to celebrate the miraculous presence of Christ in the world, particularly during extraordinary and challenging times.
Here at Christ Church, we're going to make our own mountaintop experience, and there are plenty of ways to participate. Christ Church will stream a sunrise service of Morning Prayer, which you can watch in your home or from local vista of your choosing. You can also facilitate your own worship, whether alone or with family or friends. We encourage everyone to get outside as you are able for this special feast and be sure to send us pictures of your "mountaintop" Transfiguration experiences!
