Arts@ChristChurch Presents: John Coble

  • Christ Episcopal Church 509 Scott Street Little Rock, AR, 72201 United States (map)

Organist John Coble will perform at Christ Church at 7:00 pm on Friday, October 25.  The concert is co-sponsored by Arts@Christ Church and the Central Arkansas Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.  Admission is free, with donations accepted to support expenses associated with the concert.  The church is handicapped accessible.

John Coble has served as Director of Music/Organist at First Presbyterian Church in Athens, Georgia since 2013, and is part-time instructor of organ at the University of Georgia. He has served churches in Georgia, Indiana, and North Carolina, and has performed across the country and abroad.  He holds degrees from Augusta College, Florida State University, and Indiana University, studying with John Schaeffer, Michael Corzine, and Marilyn Keiser.

Mr. Coble’s recital will be presented in memory of Raymond Martin (1921 - 2018), father of Christ Church parishioner Floyd Martin. Mr. Martin was Professor of Music at Agnes Scott College (Decatur, Georgia, 1950 - 1987), and organist at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer (Atlanta, Georgia, 1963 - 1993). Coble’s program will include works by J. S. Bach, Dan Locklair, Felix Mendelssohn, and Louis Vierne which were significant to Mr. Martin.

Arts@Christ Church presents art exhibits and performing arts events on a regular basis.  The church’s architecture, Nichols and Simpson organ, and superb acoustics make it a suitable venue for performers of John Coble’s caliber.
